Myth 1. HIV is transmitted by working together or sharing food or dress

Fact: HIV is transmitted by 4 routes only

A. Sexual route – Vaginal / Anal / Oral Sex either Hetero Sexual or Homo Sexual

B. Intravenous Drug Abuse – By Sharing needles and Syringes by IV drug abusers

C. Mother to Child – In the course of delivery

D. Blood Products – By blood transfusion / Accidental needle stick injury

Myth 2. HIV infected people will die soon

Fact: HIV infected people can live a longer life if adopt proper lifestyle and medicines

It is just like having any other chronic diseases like Diabetes Mellitus / Hypertension / Asthma etc.

Myth 3. HIV Positivity and AIDS are one and the same

Fact: HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the viral infection and

AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficency Syndrome) is the endstage of  HIV infection.

Myth 4. HIV Positive people cannot lead a normal and happy life

Fact: HIV Positive people can have a normal life provided they modify their lifestyle.

Myth 5. We can differentiate an HIV Positive person simply by seeing him/her.

Fact: We cannot differentiate an HIV Positive person and Non infective person just by seeing.

HIV Positive person can live till he reach the end stage, AIDS, which may be after more than 10 years after getting infected, if not taking proper treatment and lifestyle modifications
