VAGINISMUS – Most Painful for Women
It is a leading cause of Female Sexual Dysfunction as well as Secondary cause for Male Sexual Dysfunction especially Erectile Dysfunction and most of the time missed if female partner is not worked up for the evaluation of male sexual dysfunction.
Most often, Male partner shall be consulting a doctor with a history of loosing erection while trying to insert penis inside the vagina. He might be having adequate erection while masturbation or during foreplay, but penis become soft at the point of inserting. He fail to insert more than two inches ( head of the penis alone). – CONSULT DOCTOR
It is the involuntary (without one’s control) and painful contraction of outer one-third of the vagina so that insertion or penetration is not possible. It is similar to closure of the eyes when a foreign object comes near to it.
Vaginismus can be caused by
- Fear of pain (stories heard from peers or media)
- Fear of rupturing hymen
- Past history of sexual abuse
Vaginismus is an involuntary construction of the outer vaginal muscles, prohibiting intercourse. The drawing on the left illustrates the relaxed vagina, while the drawing on the right illustrates vaginismus.
Treatment
Vaginismus is almost 100% treatable condition.
