Gonorrhoea in women
Due to the presence of free sex and liberty to enjoy sex with multiple partners now-a-days, more and more people are suffering from the risk of sexually transmitted infections such as syphilis and gonorrhoea etc. It would very surprising to know that every year more than 60,000 cases of gonorrhoea are reported every year and many go undetected due to negligence, ignorance or absence of symptoms.
Gonorrhoea leads to very serious problem in reproductive system of body in women and can also get transferred to her partner and even to her child if she is pregnant with the infection. Gonorrhoea is caused by bacteria, Neisseria gonorrhoea which usually infects moist parts of body like eyes, vagina, penis, rectum and throat etc. This infectious disease can pass through sexual partners or even also through contact with these regions without any sexual encounter. The infected person can pass on this ailment to other parts of his or her body through touch.
Women are highly susceptible to this ailment. Women suffers from 90% risk of getting infected with this ailment if they have had sexual contact with an infected man whereas men only suffer from 50% chances of getting infected with gonorrhoea if they had an sexual intercourse with infected woman.
Women suffering from gonorrhoea also get infected with number of other health risks too. Most of the times, they are also diagnosed with Chlamydia ailment too. Gonorrhoea also leads to tubal pregnancy, infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease and chronic pain in pelvis in females. Women suffering from gonorrhoea also develop Bartholin’s duct cysts, with or without any symptoms which causes immense pain in case of large cysts.
If gonorrhoea is not treated timely, it can affect the cervix and can invade the fallopian tubes and uterus. Since this ailment does not show symptoms, one should look for problems like discharge from vagina, vaginal bleeding and burning sensation while urinating etc and get ailment diagnosed by doctor.
One of the best ways to treat gonorrhoea is by practicing monogamy and safe sex. Use of condoms can easily prevent STIs like gonorrhea as well.
